Migrating services to Kubernetes infrastructure

The problem

Move production services from App Engine to a containerised Kubernetes architecture.

How I approached it

Helped migrate services from App Engine to NestJS, Docker and Kubernetes.

My contribution

Contributed to the migration; the resulting cost reduction is attributed to the broader migration rather than solely to one engineer.

Outcomes

  • The migration contributed to an approximately 80% reduction in infrastructure costs.

What I learned

  • Platform changes should be evaluated through operational and cost evidence, not architecture novelty alone.
